Attribute #1: Our God Is Alive

While at a friend’s youth group one Wednesday evening, the activity was choosing an attribute of God and finding as many verses as possible to back up that statement.  The point of it was to not only be searching through the scriptures, but to be able to say why we believe what we believe.  Why is our God alive?  Because the Bible says so, and I can show you where – you know, that sort of thing.  I enjoyed the activity – it was much like a treasure hunt in the Bible for, indeed, the Bible is full of treasures – God’s words to us.  I encourage you to do this activity yourself (after all, I can’t put on every single one of the verses) and meanwhile I will be posting one attribute with verses every so often.

So now: our God is alive (living, risen, etc.)

Job 19:25 - For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Psalm 18:46 - The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

Psalm 42:2 - My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

Psalm 84:2 - My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Acts 25:14 - But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

Romans 8:34 - Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Romans 9:26 - And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
